3 Ways to Become North Star Certified

In-Person
An in-person training will be offered at America's SBDC National Conference as a pre-conference workshop. Participants must complete and pass the online certification exam.

Online
Complete the North Star online training curriculum (updated annually) and score a passing grade on the online certification exam.

Wavier
If you received an equivalent IT/cyber certification or have participated in continuing cybersecurity education you may be eligible for a certification waiver.
North Star Certification Requirements

5+ Training Hours
You must complete at least 5 hours of training or continuing education in cybersecurity in the same year as your certification. The in-person session and online courses both satisfy this requirement. -
Pass Online Certification Exam
After completion of training (in-person or online), you must receive a passing score on the certification exam to receive your certification. The exam includes 70 questions, and participants must achieve a score of 80% or higher within three attempts.
